Intercessory Prayer by Dutch Sheets is an encouraging book. It's so easy to forget the powerful resource that we have...prayer. And what an awesome thought that God wants to use our prayers to allow us to see Him at work.I received this book from Bethany Publishers in exchange for an honest review.

I've read many books on prayer and this is absolutely THE BEST book I've ever read on the subject. It's definitely a page-turner and I completely devoured it, taking notes along the way and contemplating it's many truths. Dutch writes in a conversational tone and uses repetition and examples to help the reader absorb the often profound concepts he presents. He ends every chapter with very thought-provoking questions. It's worth taking the time to think about and answer them! To help me retain the truths and increase my understanding, I created an infographic about Chapter 1, and I plan to make one for each chapter (see the image). This is a book you'll read and re-read. It would be excellent for a study group too. I initially purchased the Kindle edition and then purchased the hard copy for my library. It's a keeper!

I wish I could give it more than five stars. I have attended church and have been a practicing follower of Christ all my life and have usually been frustrated with very little victory. I found this book and researched the author to make sure he wasn't some kind of snake oil salesman. He's not. I have learned more from the teaching in this book than from 40 years' worth of sermons combined. (Another great resource is Prayers that Rout Demons and Break Curses by John Eckhardt.) The church is lacking SO MUCH when it comes to teaching us the power we have in Christ among other things. Dutch Sheets writes in a way that paints a picture that helps you understand biblical accounts you've heard thousands of times, but never truly understood. If you are searching for truth and tired of the "spiritual milk" you've been fed, then get this book! I never before understood just how complete the work of Jesus on the cross was (and is) and how the Father very much wants to work with each of us to accomplish His will. I can't write enough about all the revelation I've received. I loved this so much I purchased 8 used copies to give to people I may encounter who are searching and I am going to order more. Get ready to be Prayer Warriors! All is not gloom and doom! We can change things in this world for the better if we ask the Father to RELEASE HIS POWER!! Woo hoo!! Oh, and also...this was a used book. Very good condition.

4.5 stars. Really great content that massively helped me in my prayer life - both in understanding why it’s so important, why we do it the way we do it, and just how effective it is. I now prevail in prayer in a way I didn’t before, due in part to entering the throne room with boldness and confidence thanks to some explanations in this book and also due to a new understanding of the necessity for perseverance that I pre iously lacked. I have a few minor quibbles with certain things he says and conclusions he draws but nothing worth noting or dividing over. Also, his naming of different anointings (the bear anointing, for instance) was gimmicky and annoying but again, not worth dividing over. He has great passion for and commitment to prayer that was inspiring to me personally and I have highly recommended this book to friends and family.

Wonderful book to read and have to your collection. We are having a small bible study group with this book and the workbook that comes with this teaching. My small group is growing strong together in our prayer life and how to be an intercessory. It is eye opener for me how powerful and important our prayers are to God daily. Now I'm waking up early in the morning knowing my prayers are moving forces for everyone I'm praying for, Buy it today! Thank you

This Book reveals truths about prayer. The most profound was the truth that God uses our prayer to unleash His power. In the Old Testament there is a time God said he search high and low for someone who would bridge the gap (pray for the city). He found none and he destroyed the city. Would God call us to the bridge the gap for a people group? Muslims, Africans, Americans?

The author does a great job shining light on scripture related to prayer. For someone like me who is an intercessor his teaching on prayer helped me immensely in my prayer life and travels. Recommend this book highly if you want some deeper spiritual teaching on praying for others in powerful ways. I've given it as a gift to other Christians and they love it too.

This is the most understandable and interesting book on prayer I've ever read. It is presented with humor and many bible references to look up and prove what he is saying. I've been a Christian for about 50 years and this book will build a good foundation for prayer in every believers life. I just wish I had read it many years ago because it has changed much of my beliefs about prayer. I now feel I'm praying with more power and faith. I would recommend this book to any one who is serious about getting others into the kingdom.

This book gave me a new perspective on praying for others. Be careful not to get caught up in the idea that there's a formula we must use....that was the only thing about this book that bothered me. Perhaps not what the author was trying to say, but that's just how it came across to me. Very good and instructive.
