About the Author

Anthony leads architecture and design teams in building nextgeneration networks for his customers. He completed his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at the University of Missouri—Rolla in 1994 and his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at the University of Puerto Rico—Mayaguez in 1990. He is also a part-time instructor for the University of Phoenix—Online, teaching networking courses.   Outside of work Anthony enjoys running marathons, Spartan obstacle races, and Olympic and Ironman distance triathlons.   Steve Jordan, CCIE No. 11293, is a Senior Technology Manager with Accudata Systems and has 20 years experience in the field of internetworking. For the last 10 years, Steve has specialized in data center architectures involving compute, network, storage, virtualization, and SDN. I haven't finished the book yet, but so far I like what I'm seeing. Using the book paired with the Pearson IT Certification online content is a must. You'll get access to study planners and review materials. Also, the book comes with a 70% off discount code for the premium edition of the book which includes a PDF version and an extra 2 practice tests in the Pearson practice test software.Update:Passed today. I found the OCG to be a phenomenal information resource as a technical reference, but a bit disjointed from the actual exam. For disclosure reasons I can't go into further detail, but I'd recommend pairing this book with CBT Nuggets and a hefty dose of real-world experience.

Not a great book. Lots of mistakes, repeated sections and the information is presented in a very unorganized way. It jumps around a lot, will use acronyms for which no definition is provided until 4 sections later. 50% of the questions at the end of the chapters are TERRIBLE, the other 50% are just ok.With all that said, I don't think there is a better book to use. Go through each section carefully and plan to have to go back after you've read each chapter to try to put together the bigger picture. Research the sections you are unclear about using other resources. It will help a lot.Very disappointed in this book.For reference, I read the whole book, went back and reviewed and passed the test. But at no point did I feel confident in the book.

Currently there are one a few books available for the CCDA (200-310). While this is the best one on the market, its lacking in the information provided. The material jumps all over the place. Countless times the book will repeat a complete section within a page or two of each other. While repeating itself might drive home the information, I find it simply fluff to make the book bigger. I am currently looking for additional material to use as I pursue my CCDA and CCDP.

Not bad by Cisco standards. I am a CCNP R&S and used only this book to study for the exam, and was able to pass on the first attempt. There are some typos and some problems with the questions on the downloadable test, which I reported to Pearson. If an answer to a review question sounds wrong to you google it. Don't take the book's word. I even found one question that directly contradicted the books text, word for word.Overall though it got the job done.

Official Cisco training is expensive, and if you don't have an employer paying for you to learn, then you are stuck figuring it out on your own. Cisco press books are a great value. I have purchased the CCNA set, CCNP routing and switch, and this book for CCDA. All the answers are here, you just need to pay attention to what the book emphasizes and you can pass the test.

Decent for assisting other training material.

Good start for the certification. This book will not make up for lack of experience though, so take it with a grain of salt.

A great book and easy read for those motivated to learn and master the arts of design !
